Bhopal : Chief Minister Dr. Government of Madhya Pradesh headed by Mohan Yadav, on 31 March 2026 at Varanasi ‘Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh Cooperation Council 2026′, important decisions were taken to advance inter-state cooperation in a concrete, result-oriented and global perspective. The conference will work towards promoting in-depth dialogue on key issues as well as creating a comprehensive economic ecosystem integrating ODOP, GI tag, traditional handicrafts, exportable products, investment and tourism. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav’s active presence will transform the program into an implementation-based cooperation rather than just policy-making and develop a strong and long-term framework for development in both states.

Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh Cooperation Conference was held in Varanasi on 31st March. In this conference, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr. Mohan Yadav, Minister of Uttar Pradesh and senior officials from both the states participated. Various topics were discussed from small scale industries to religious tourism and employment. Officers also made presentations from their respective departments. The dignitaries present in this program discussed the further possibilities of working together between the two states in the future. Chief Minister Dr. In the presence of Yadav, an MoU was signed between Vishwanath Temple Trust and Mahakaleshwar Temple Trust, as well as between Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh to promote the sector of ODOP products. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh has huge investment potential for industrial development. The state has exports worth over Rs 70,000 crore.

Special relationship between the two states

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that like Kashi, Ujjain also has special ancient and cultural significance. Recognizing the huge potential of religious tourism in both the cities, Prime Minister Modi launched the development project. The establishment of Baba Mahakal as Mahalok (Abode of Lord Rama) has increased religious tourism in Madhya Pradesh. Lord Sri Rama spent a significant period of his life in Chitrakoot on the banks of Mandakini river. After killing Kansa, Lord Krishna studied in Ujjain. It is a special relationship between the two states.

Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh work together

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are moving forward with a common heritage. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, the work of Ken-Betwa river linking project has started. This will benefit the districts of Bundelkhand in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. This project will provide irrigation and drinking water. Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are jointly working on a 2000 MW solar power project at Morena. He said that today he reviewed the arrangement of Vishwanath Corridor. We sent officers to Prayagraj to study the arrangement of the historic Mahakumbha. All kinds of management preparations are underway for the upcoming Simhastha festival.

Exports of Madhya Pradesh cross 70,000 crores

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the irrigated area in Madhya Pradesh has increased to 55 lakh hectares. The state has unlimited investment opportunities for industrial development. Exports from the state have crossed 70,000 crores. The number of medical colleges in the state has increased to 40. He said that the state government is leasing 30 acres of land at Rs 1 to open hospitals. Farmers are being given subsidy of up to 50 percent under various schemes during the agricultural welfare year.

The ODOP program got a new identity

Uttar Pradesh Industries Minister Nand Gopal Gupta (Nandi) said that the Chief Minister, who is a staunch devotee of Baba Mahakal, Dr. Yadav’s arrival in Kashi, the city of Baba Vishwanath, is a privilege. He is a very simple-minded and popular politician who has a deep influence on the people. Their administrative decisions are firm. Laxity is not tolerated in the Madhya Pradesh government. He said that this incident is a clear example of deep harmony between the two states. Uttar Pradesh has special relations with the people of Baghelkhand, Gwalior-Chambal and Bundelkhand. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is the best destination for investors. Our mission is to develop youth as entrepreneurs. More than Rs 6,000 crore has been distributed to 1,63,000 youth so far. Minister Gupta said that the ODOP (One District Product) program has given a new identity to local artisans and handicrafts.

Both the states united for a common purpose

Principal Secretary Raghavendra Kumar Singh said that Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have come together with a common objective to cooperate and coordinate the ‘One District Product’ initiative. ODOP products have been selected in all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh’s total exports in 2017 were Rs 88,000 crore, which is projected to increase to Rs 1,86,000 crore by 2024. ODOP accounts for 50% of this figure. Forty-four products have been given GI tags. Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Industries Department Commissioner Rohit Anand said that Uttar Pradesh is the largest state in the country with 96 lakh MSME units. This has led to a revolution in capital investment in the state. Jewar Airport was inaugurated on March 28. It will be the country’s largest airport for logistics. MSME parks of 10 to 50 acres are being developed in the state. Nilesh Mishra, founder of ‘Village Connection’, said that there is a common twin engine between Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. ‘Gaon Connection’ started its journey by introducing ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) products from the districts of Uttar Pradesh. He further said that Madhya Pradesh’s regional industry fair has emerged as a unique model for the entire country. ‘Village Connection’ is becoming the postman of the shared heritage of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh Art Exhibition

An exhibition of major products of the artisans of both the states was also organized in the event. Bamboo handicrafts, metal handicrafts, textiles and linen handicrafts were exhibited. This showed the hard work of small scale industries and artisans. The exhibition provided a platform to the various products covered by the Madhya Pradesh-Uttar Pradesh ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) initiative, as well as GI tagged products. Investment opportunities, industrial potential, traditional wear and tourist destinations of Madhya Pradesh were also showcased. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav visited the exhibition and interacted with the artisans. Stalls were set up for Varanasi soft stone zari work, Banaras blankets, saree work, Banaras woodwork, Banaras glass beads and Banaras pink Meenakari handicrafts. Similarly, stalls have been set up for banana fiber products made by artisans from Madhya Pradesh, bajri from Dindori-Mandla district, jute from Bhopal district, Jari Zardoji products, Panja Dari from Sidhi district, bamboo products from Rewa district, Bharewa metalwork from Betul district, textile products made by women’s self-help groups from Shivpuri, Maheshwari handlooms, boutique prints from Ujjain and silver sarees.
