Like America and Europe, now police assistance will be available in Punjab in just 6 minutes – Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann

Punjab News: Taking a major step towards strengthening law and order in Punjab, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann flagged off 508 state-of-the-art Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) in Sangrur. These vehicles will be deployed in all 28 police districts of the state under Dial-112 service, which will speed up the response time of police in emergency situations.

What is the goal of the government?

The Chief Minister said that the government’s aim is to intensify police assistance on the lines of developed countries. Under the new system, the police will now try to reach the spot within about 6 minutes. Modern technologies like GPS tracking, dash cameras and mobile data systems have been installed in these vehicles, which will improve both monitoring and response.

improvement in police efficiency

CM Mann said that in the last four years, more than Rs 327 crore has been invested in police vehicles and modernization. As a result, police efficiency has improved and law and order has been strengthened. About 15,000 calls are received daily on Dial-112, out of which vehicles are immediately dispatched in about 1,500 cases. Earlier the response time was 30-45 minutes, now it has been reduced to 13-14 minutes.

Strict action against drug smugglers

Referring to the ongoing campaign against drug addiction, the Chief Minister said that the state government is working seriously to root out this problem. He said that strict action is being taken against drug smugglers and the conviction rate has reached 87 percent, which is a big achievement. He also appealed to the society to socially boycott such elements, so that this problem can be dealt with effectively.

He said that strong law and order increases the confidence of investors. Giving an example of this, he said that Tata Steel is planning a big investment in Punjab, which shows the better security system of the state.

Special initiative in the field of road safety also

The government has also taken important initiatives in the field of road safety. A special road safety force has been formed in the state, which includes 1,597 trained personnel and 144 modern vehicles. This force is deployed on the 4,200 km long accident-affected highway. Due to this, deaths in road accidents have reduced by 48 percent.

This is how police infrastructure will be strengthened

To strengthen the police infrastructure, the government has ensured that at least one vehicle is available with every police station. Apart from this, special units have also been strengthened, in which the Anti-Narcotics Task Force has been given new vehicles. Separate steps have also been taken for the safety of women, which include providing electric scooters.

Government also active on recruitment front

The government has also been active on the recruitment front. More than 12,000 policemen have been recruited till now from the year 2022. Advertisement has also been issued for new recruitments in March 2026, due to which the police force will be further strengthened.

AI will soon be used in policing

Referring to future plans, the Chief Minister said that soon Artificial Intelligence will be used in policing, which will make the crime control and surveillance system more effective. He also said that the government is working with transparency and honesty and public money is being used in development works. Improvement in education, health, electricity and infrastructure is the priority of the government.
