Why are banks closed tomorrow, 1st April?
Tomorrow is the first day of the financial year 2026-27. Therefore, RBI has declared a bank holiday tomorrow in most of the cities of the country, so that the annual closing processes at the end of the financial year can be completed. On this day, banks carry out their internal financial work, such as closing accounts of the previous financial year, preparing balance sheets, checking data and conducting annual audits. For this reason, RBI has declared a holiday for banks.
It is worth noting that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) already releases a complete list of bank holidays, in which it is told on which days, in which cities and for what specific reason the banks will remain closed. Therefore, before going to the bank on any day, it is good to check the list of bank holidays of RBI. In the coming month of April also, banks will remain closed on different days in many cities.
