Priyanka to campaign in Assam, Kerala from April 1

New Delhi: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi will address several public meetingsnin Assam on April 1 and then will also campaign for the party in Keralam.

Priyanka Gandhi, who is also the chairman ofnthe Screening committee for Assam will be addressing three public meeting in Assam’s Nazira, Tingkhong and Khowang region of the state.

The party leaders said that after her day visit to Assam, Priyanka Gandhi, who is a Lok Sabha MP from Kerala’s Wayanad, will also be touring the southern state and then addressing several public meetings there on April 2.

Besides that Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has already campaigned extensively in Kerala in last two days by addees8sng several public meetings and also holding roadshow for the UDF candidate.

The party leaders said that Priyanka Gandhi will again back in Kerala on April 6 and 7 during the last phase of campaigning.

Meanwhile, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has already announced six guarantees for Assam on March

Kharge had announced unconditional cash transfer to women’s bank accounts, Rs 50,000 for women for business, cashless health insurance of Rs 25 lakh rupees for every family, justice to be served in the case of Late Jubin Garg within 100 days, permanent land pattas will be provided to 10 lakh Khilonjia sons of the soil and monthly assistance of Rs 1,250 to the elderly of the state.

On the other hand, BJP has already intensified its campaign in Assam with several of the top party faces addressing several public meetings in supoort of Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The Congress is eyeing a return to power in Assam, where it has ruled for three consecutive term from 2001 to 2016. The Congress is looking to stop the hat trick of BJP in the northeastern state as it has projected former three Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s son Gaurav Gogoi as party’s chief Ministerial candidate.

Elections for 126 member assembly in Assam is scheduled on April 9.

Similarly, in Kerala, the Congress left UDF is looking to dethrone the Pinarayi Vijayan led LDF government in the 140 member assembly.
