World News: The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Wednesday provided information about its ongoing military campaign against Iran and its regional allies. IDF spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said that so far more than 4,000 targets have been attacked and more than 10,000 terrorists have been targeted as part of the operation being conducted in collaboration with the US Central Command (CENTCOM).
The IDF claimed the operation “eliminated master terrorist Ali Khamenei” and that an Israeli airfighter shot down an Iranian aircraft in Iranian airspace. In addition, intensified operations were also carried out against Hezbollah, including airstrikes and ground entries into Lebanon.
Sharing operational details, the spokesman said more than 800 strikes were carried out and about 16,000 weapons were dropped across Iran. He said that more than 2,000 soldiers and commanders associated with the Iranian regime were killed, while 5,000 new targets were identified.
The IDF also said that the Air Force swept into the center of Tehran in less than 24 hours and that about 40 senior Iranian officials were targeted in just 40 seconds. The spokesperson reiterated that Israel and its allies will not allow the Iranian government and proxies to pose a threat to the country and its citizens.
US Central Command also confirmed that American forces had carried out precision strikes on underground military targets inside Iran. CENTCOM said its aim was to reduce the Iranian government’s ability to project force outside its borders.
Hailing the operation as a “major success,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the joint Israel-US efforts were “systematically crushing” the Tehran government and eliminating the threat to the Jewish homeland. “Sooner or later the Iranian government will fall,” Netanyahu said on the occasion of the Passover festival. He also informed about Israel forming new alliances with regional countries.
At the same time, according to Iranian Press TV, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) carried out four attacks on US and Israeli targets under Operation True Promise 4. These include a ballistic missile attack on Israel’s container ship Express Hafong in the Persian Gulf and a drone attack on a US base off the UAE coast. Additionally, Iran also destroyed the counter-drone system of the US Fifth Fleet.
