Director Rohit Shetty is once again in the limelight. This time, he is in the limelight due to a controversy that adds to his woes. According to Mid-Day reports, Rohit Shetty had modified at least two of his private cars. Both were sports utility vehicles (SUVs). According to Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, both of these are illegal and punishable. No one other than police departments and law enforcement agencies are allowed to use these items. Also, the director is now accused of illegally putting police stickers on Rohit Shetty’s private cars during the shooting of his upcoming film.
Statement of Police Officer
A senior traffic official told Mid-Day that only officers are allowed to use ‘police’ stickers and lights. After investigation, it was confirmed that both the SUVs were registered in Shetty’s name. “As per Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, as amended in 2019, affixing ‘police’ stickers, logos or symbols on private vehicles is not allowed,” said a senior RTO official. But, neither Rohit Shetty nor his team has given any comment on this yet.
