Digestive diseases are increasing rapidly in the country… Indians are not aware about intestinal cancer.

New Delhi. Digestive diseases are increasing rapidly in the country, but people are still not aware about serious diseases. A recent National Survey Perception Audit revealed that 80% of the people of Delhi do not know that blood in stool can be an early sign of Colorectal cancer (intestinal cancer).

Merck Specialties Private Limited conducted this survey in 14 major Indian cities. More than 10 thousand people aged 25 to 65 years participated in it. The results of the survey were shared at an event in Delhi. The figures related to Delhi are quite worrying. 679 participants participated from Delhi, of which 341 were men and 337 were women. The reasons behind not going to the doctor are lack of time, fear, hesitation and not taking the disease seriously.

    Doctors warned

According to oncologist Dr. Manish Singhal, this cancer starts as small polyps in the large intestine or rectum. Blood in stool, sudden weight loss, stomach pain and fatigue are the main symptoms, which can be costly to ignore. Citing data from Delhi, Dr. Shefali Sardana said that people often make the mistake of taking medicine on their own instead of taking medical advice, due to which the disease becomes serious. Experts believe that timely screening and right habits can reduce the risk of this cancer.
