Kannada actor and politician Upendra has once again sparked debate with his unconventional take on April 1, urging people to redefine the meaning of the day. Speaking at the launch of his Prajaakeeya party’s mobile application, Upendra said that a day widely observed as Fool’s Day should instead be celebrated as a ‘Day of Intelligence’ or a ‘Day of Wisdom’.
Addressing the gathering, Upendra questioned the practice of normalising deception, even in the spirit of humour. He pointed out that April 1 has long been associated with making fools of others, but argued that society must evolve beyond such thinking. According to him, the day presents an opportunity to encourage awareness, critical thinking, and responsibility among citizens, rather than celebrating ignorance.
