Vietnam’s deeply rooted culinary heritage is intricately woven into daily life and national identity.

From globally recognized staples such as pho and banh mi to distinct regional traditions like Hue’s royal cuisine and the Mekong Delta’s abundance of fresh seafood, the country’s gastronomy reflects a refined balance of flavors, an emphasis on fresh ingredients, and remarkable regional diversity, Agoda said.

The top destinations where Vietnamese travelers satisfied their culinary interests last year were Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia and China, the report added.

South Korean travelers placed third in the rankings, based on responses from 3,353 participants across nine Asian markets.

Travelers from Malaysia and Japan rank fourth and fifth as Asia’s top foodies, with 33% and 32% of respondents, respectively, prioritizing food in their travel itineraries.
