Election campaign at its peak in Ramakrishnanagar, indication of tough contest between BJP vs Congress
Shribhoomi – As elections are approaching in Ramakrishnanagar assembly constituency of Shribhoomi district, political activity is intensifying. The direct contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (Congress) is now becoming more interesting. Current two-time MLA and BJP candidate Vijay Malakar and Congress candidate, lawyer and former Zilla Parishad member Suruchi Rai, both are running vigorous campaigns through meetings and rallies. Congress candidate Suruchi Rai has made education the main issue in her public meetings. He alleged that students from remote areas of the region like Dulabhchhada, Nivea, Cheragi and Rangpur have to travel several kilometers away to Ramakrishnanagar for higher education, putting additional economic burden on laborers and low income group families.
He promised that if won, degree colleges, circle offices and other necessary government institutions would be established in the area. Also, he raised the issue of irregularities in the last Panchayat elections and stressed the need for transparent administration. At the same time, BJP candidate Vijay Malakar is campaigning keeping the issue of development at the center. He claims that BJP has done more development work in a shorter period of time compared to the long rule of Congress.
He said that earlier the communication system in the area was weak and law and order was also a matter of concern, whereas the present government has made improvements in these areas. He appealed to the public to compare the past and present situation and expressed optimism about his victory. Overall, this election in Ramakrishnanagar has turned out to be extremely competitive with the focus being on the issue of development versus infrastructure. Now it remains to be seen who the voters support and who wins in this tough contest.
