Allahabad High Court orders ban on Namaz by gathering crowd on private property

Prayagraj. Allahabad High Court has said in an important order that such activities cannot be allowed in the name of private property, which pose a risk of disturbing public order and peace. In one case, the court stopped the petitioner from offering Namaz by gathering a crowd on his private property.

This order was given by the division bench of Justice Saral Srivastava and Justice Garima Prasad while hearing the petition of Bareilly resident Tariq Khan. The petitioner had challenged the challan issued on charges of preventing namaz on private property and disturbing peace during Ramzan.

During the hearing, it was told by the state government that a large number of people were gathering on the property of the petitioner every day, which could affect the law and order and communal peace of the area. The court said that it is the responsibility of the administration to maintain law and order and such activities cannot be allowed which disrupt peace.

The petitioner’s counsel assured the court that such crowds would not be gathered in future. On this, the court expressed hope that the promise will be kept and warned that the administration can take strict action in case of violation.

However, while giving relief, the court also directed to withdraw the challan issued on January 16, 2026 and cancel the contempt notice. Also, orders were given to withdraw the security given earlier.
