“We want to reduce tension, open the Strait of Hormuz”, statement of UK PM Keir Starmer…

Amid the growing crisis in West Asia, United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Wednesday made it clear that his country will not get involved in the war in the Middle East. He also said the UK aims to de-escalate the conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a vital route for global oil supplies.

Let us tell you, in his speech, Keir Starmer said, “This is not our war and we will not get into this fight. Although the war will affect us, we have a plan to emerge as a more secure country as a result. We want to reduce tensions and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.” His statement comes at a time when military tensions have increased between Iran and its neighboring countries, and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz has created a worldwide energy crisis.

Keir Starmer also said that the UK has tried to bring together 35 countries to promote maritime security in the Gulf region. He said, “We will hold meetings with these countries and try to meet military planners to find out how to make the Strait of Hormuz safe. It will not be easy, but we will have to come together and work.”

He also clarified that the real challenge is the security of passing through the Strait of Hormuz, not insurance. Starmer said, “The challenge is the safety and security of the route. We have to face this challenge together. Most importantly, we need clear and calm leadership, and this is what the UK is ready to do.”

Following this statement, Keir Starmer spoke of prioritizing British national interests and said, “People worry that war will affect their families and that energy bills could rise. It is the government’s job to address these concerns.”

This statement has come at a time when US President Donald Trump on Tuesday gave a strong message to the countries affected by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Trump especially targeted America’s old allies like the United Kingdom and France. Trump wrote in his social media post, “For countries facing jet fuel shortages due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to engage in action against Iran, I have a suggestion: First buy from the US, we have plenty of oil, and then muster up some courage and go to the Strait and get the oil. Now the US will not come to your aid, just as you did not help us. Iran is finished, the hard part is done.”
