Historic performance by Tata Motors, new record in FY26 with sales of ‘so many’ lakh vehicles!

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited has performed well in the fourth quarter of FY 2025-26, recording significant growth across all segments. Domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 66,192 units in March 2026, up 28 percent from 51,616 units in the same period last year.

As per the figures for the quarter, the company’s domestic sales stood at 1,98,743 units, a growth of 36 per cent as compared to 1,46,127 units in the previous fiscal. For the entire financial year 2025-26, the company reported sales of 6,31,387 units, representing a year-on-year growth of 14 percent.

The company has also performed strongly in the international market. International sales reached 779 units in March 2026, up 204 percent from the previous year. Sales for the quarter stood at 2,625 units, while on a year-on-year basis it grew to 10,200 units, i.e. a growth of 281 percent.

Total passenger vehicle sales (including electric vehicles) stood at 66,971 units in March 2026, representing a growth of 29 percent. Total sales in the fourth quarter stood at 2,01,368 units, reaching 6,41,587 units year-on-year.

The company has also recorded strong growth in the electric vehicle (EV) segment. EV sales reached 9,494 units in March 2026, an increase of 77 percent. EV sales during the quarter stood at 26,931 units, while annual sales reached 92,120 units.

The company’s managing director and CEO Shailesh Chandra said the passenger vehicle industry witnessed good growth due to the festive season and rising demand. With the growing consumer trend towards eco-friendly technology, CNG and EV vehicles are gaining a lot of demand.

He added that the company has achieved a historic milestone by selling more than 6.4 lakh vehicles this year. In the SUV segment, Tata Nexon and Tata Punch models received a huge response. The company has expressed the expectation that the growth in the SUV, CNG and EV segments will continue in the future.
