ATM Cash Withdrawal Rules : You keep your money in the bank and then if you want, you go to the ATM and withdraw money. Now this process is online. But there are many people who still use ATMs. They are withdrawing money from the ATM. But now this habit is going to cost them dearly. But now if you go and withdraw money any number of times, you will have to pay a penalty. Banks have revised the rules regarding ATM withdrawals. These new rules are effective from today i.e. 1st April 2026. These changes have been applied to all banks, from private sector banks to public sector institutions.

Changed Rules of HDFC Bank
Customers of HDFC, the country’s largest private sector bank, are entitled to 5 free transactions per month at HDFC Bank ATMs. For ATMs of other banks, the limit of free transactions has been fixed at 3 in metros and 5 in cities other than metros.
If you are an HDFC Bank customer, you can withdraw cash from ATMs using UPI as well. Now, the amount withdrawn in this manner will also count towards the free ATM transaction limit. If you exceed the limit of free transactions, you will be charged ₹23 per transaction. Additionally, applicable taxes will also be levied on this amount.
What changes has PNB made?
The country’s second largest public sector bank has revised its ATM cash withdrawal rules for certain debit cards. For cards like RuPay NCMC Platinum Domestic Debit Card, RuPay NCMC Platinum International Debit Card, RuPay Women Power Platinum Debit Card, RuPay PNB Palash Debit Card, Recycled PVC Debit Card, RuPay Business Platinum NCMC Debit Card, MasterCard Platinum Debit Card, VISA Gold Debit Card and PNB MasterCard Platinum Rise, the daily ATM cash withdrawal limit has been reduced from ₹1,00,000 to ₹50,000. For cards like RuPay Select Debit Card, PNB RuPay Select Neo, PNB RuPay Select Excel, VISA Signature Debit Card and MasterCard Business Debit Card, the ATM cash withdrawal limit has been reduced from ₹1,50,000 to ₹75,000.
Bank Changes
Bank has also revised the free transaction limits at its ATMs. As per the new rules, Bank customers will be entitled to 5 free financial transactions per month at Bank ATMs. Meanwhile, there is no restriction on transactions other than financial transactions. For ATM transactions of other banks, the limit will be 3 in metros and 5 in non-metro cities. If the limit of free transactions is exceeded, customers will be charged ₹23 for each financial transaction and ₹10 for each non-financial transaction. If an ATM transaction is rejected due to insufficient funds available in the bank account, a penalty of ₹25 will be levied.
