Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s film dominated four film festivals, will now be released in India

Desk. For Nawazuddin Siddiqui, every character is an opportunity to live a new life. He plays every character with utmost precision and his films are no less than a feast. Nawazuddin completely gets into the character and gives a new shape to the story. Now he is going to be seen in a great film soon. This film of his has left its mark in four international film festivals. Now it is all set to release in India. The name of this film is ‘I am not an actor’.

His upcoming film ‘Main Actor Nahi Hoon’ is going to be released in Indian theaters on 8th May 2026, in which once again he has played a character which gave him an opportunity to understand a completely new aspect of emotions. Talking about his character ‘Adnan’, Nawazuddin said, ‘Adnan’s character is quite different from my other characters because in this I am playing the role of a retired person. Through this film and this story of Aditya, I experienced the age which I did not have before.

He also described the shooting process of this film as very special. He says, ‘We were feeling emotions and performing them on a small 3×3 phone screen. I have never experienced anything like this before. He said that the format of the film was a new challenge for him. Talking about the lessons he learned from this character, Nawazuddin further said, ‘It is said that the best aspect of being an actor is that we live many lives in one life. I didn’t know what a person’s life was like after retirement. But through this film I understood what kind of anxiety, depression and other emotions come in the mind after retirement. This experience was very special for me as an actor.

Before its release in India, ‘Main Actor Nahin Hoon’ has had a great journey in international film festivals. The film premiered at the Cinequest Film Festival 2024 and was subsequently screened at the New York Film Festival, where Nawazuddin Siddiqui received the Best Actor award for his performance. The film has also inaugurated the DC South Asian Film Festival and is now going to inaugurate the Bradford International Film Festival as well. After garnering appreciation and global recognition at four prestigious international film festivals, ‘Main Actor Nahin Hoon’ is now all set to release in India on 8th May 2026.
