CCS meeting at Narendra Modi’s residence on West Asia crisis, brainstorming on important issues including energy supply
Tezzbuzz Desk – Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, the central government has come into alert mode regarding the economic and energy security of the country. In this context, an important meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) is going on at the residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which many senior ministers participated.
Many senior ministers present in the meeting
Many Union Ministers including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar are present in this high-level meeting. Apart from this, JP Nadda, Piyush Goyal and Hardeep Singh Puri are also part of the meeting.
Special focus on essential supplies
In the meeting, special emphasis is being laid on ensuring availability of LPG and PNG. Besides, the supply of fertilizers, status of energy resources and uninterrupted supply of essential commodities are also being discussed in detail. The government’s focus is on ensuring that the international crisis has minimal impact on the general public.
In today’s meeting, the decisions of the last CCS meeting held on March 22 are being reviewed. In that meeting also, the situation in West Asia was discussed in depth and a strategy was prepared to deal with the possible impacts.
Strategy to deal with global crisis
In the last meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had directed that in view of the changing circumstances, a group of ministers and officials should work together, so that the impact on the country can be reduced.
The potential impact on several key sectors such as energy, agriculture, fertiliser, food security, trade, shipping and supply chains was assessed and short-term and long-term measures were discussed.
In the meeting, special attention was also paid to the impact on farmers and the availability of fertilizers for the Kharif season. Along with this, after reviewing the situation of sectors related to crude oil, gas and electricity, alternative sources were also considered.
