The risk of nose bleeding increases due to less moisture in the nose in summer, take these measures

Summer season brings with it many health related problems. Strong sunlight, hot wind and lack of water in the body directly affect our body. One of these problems is sudden nose bleeding, which is called epistaxis in medical language.

This problem is seen especially in children and the elderly. According to doctors, in summer the moisture inside the nose reduces, due to which the inner layer becomes dry and weak and bleeding starts.

The skin inside the nose is very thin and sensitive. It contains small blood vessels, which can burst quickly when dry. Due to hot air and low humidity this layer becomes more dry. When a person blows the nose forcefully or sneezes, these tubes can break and bleeding occurs. Apart from this, this problem can also occur due to allergy, sinus problem, infection or any injury.

In some people, high blood pressure or the effect of blood thinning medicines can also cause nose bleeding.

When nose bleeding suddenly starts, give proper first aid. First of all, sit straight and tilt your head slightly forward. Due to this the blood comes out and does not go into the throat. After this, press the soft part of the nose with the thumb for a few minutes. During this period it is better to breathe through the mouth. Placing a cold compress or ice on the forehead or nose can also slow down the bleeding and help it stop more quickly. Usually these methods show effect within a few minutes.

If someone has the problem of frequent nose bleeding, then it can be prevented to a great extent by adopting some home precautions. Applying a little coconut oil or petroleum jelly inside the nose maintains moisture. In summer, one should drink as much water as possible so that the body remains hydrated. Using a humidifier is also beneficial to maintain humidity in the room. Apart from this, taking steam also helps in reducing dryness inside the nose.
