IMD Weather Alert: Rain-storm alert in 19 states, warning of tornado in Rajasthan and heavy rain in UP-Bihar

News India Live, Digital Desk: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert of worsening weather in large parts of the country from April 1, 2026. Due to the active Western Disturbance, there is a possibility of thunderstorm, rain and hailstorm in 19 states of North-West and Eastern India. The next few days may be challenging especially in Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Rajasthan: Shadow of dusty storm and severe storm. The Meteorological Department has warned of ‘Severe Storms’ in Rajasthan. The weather in the districts of Western Rajasthan is expected to be worst between 2nd to 4th April and on 6th April. During this period, dust storms can occur at a speed of 60 to 75 km per hour, which can affect traffic and normal life. Uttar Pradesh: ‘Yellow alert’ in these districts. There is a possibility of heavy rain in UP between April 1 and April 3. The Meteorological Department has asked farmers to be especially alert because this is the time of wheat harvesting. The main districts to be affected are: Western UP: Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Bijnor, Baghpat. Central and Eastern UP: Lucknow, Kanpur, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Mainpuri and Etah. Bihar: Danger of lightning and rain. Bihar will see severe weather conditions on April 1 and again on April 6. There is a danger of lightning along with thunder in many districts including Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Gaya and Champaran. During this period, the wind speed can be up to 60 km per hour. Delhi-NCR and other states Delhi-NCR: The capital will be cloudy on April 1 and there may be light to moderate rain. The intensity of rain is likely to increase on April 3 and 4. Punjab-Haryana: Here too there is an alert of moderate to heavy rain and hailstorm on April 1 and 2. Hilly States: Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh may receive heavy rain and snowfall in high altitude areas between April 3 and 6.
