Scored 70 runs in just 47 balls, 22 year old Sameer Rizvi played match winning innings for Delhi, defeated LSG by 6 wickets.

Delhi Capitals has started with a win in IPL 2026. In the match played at Ekana Stadium, Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by one wicket. Delhi Capitals achieved the target of 142 runs given by Lucknow by losing wickets in the overs. Sameer Rizvi played the highest match-winning inning of 70 unbeaten runs for Delhi Capitals and returned unbeaten after making the team win. Tristan Stubbs also contributed 39 unbeaten runs. Sameer Rizvi received the Player of the Match award for his excellent performance.

KL Rahul was out on zero

KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka started the innings of Delhi Capitals to chase the target of 142 runs given by Lucknow Super Giants, but on the very first ball of the innings, Mohammed Shami showed the way to the pavilion by dismissing KL Rahul. Rahul could not even play the account. After this, Delhi Capitals has got the second blow in the form of Nitish Rana. Mohsin Khan dismissed them on the score of 15 runs. Rana scored 15 runs on 17 balls.

After this, Prince Yadav gave 2 blows to Delhi Capitals in the fifth over. First he dismissed Pathum Nissanka on the score of one run. After this, captain Akshar Patel was bowled out. Sameer played carefully in the beginning. He completed his half-century in 37 balls. After this, he played an unbeaten inning of 70 runs on 47 balls and returned unbeaten to make the team win. During this, 5 fours and 4 sixes came from his bat. There itself Tristan Stubbs played an unbeaten inning of 39 runs in 32 balls. During this, he hit 3 fours and one six. In this way, both these players achieved the target of 143 runs for Lucknow Super Giants in 17.1 overs. Sameer Rizvi was selected for the Player of the Match award.

In their first match of IPL 2026, the entire team of Lucknow Super Giants was reduced to just 141 runs in 18.4 overs. For Lucknow, Abdul Samad played the highest innings of 36 runs on 25 balls. While Mitchell Marsh scored 35 runs on 28 balls. Apart from this, no batsman from Lucknow could touch the figure of 20 runs. Lungi Ngidi took 3-3 wickets for Delhi Capitals. While Kuldeep Yadav took 2 wickets. Captain Akshar Patel got a success there.
