Big boost to Make in India… Army equipped with Negev 7.62×51 LMG, know its strength and specialty

Tezzbuzz Desk – A major step has been taken towards strengthening India’s defense capability. Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) has handed over the first batch of Light Machine Guns (LMG) to India with technology transfer under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Delivery of 2,000 machine guns in the first batch

According to the company, out of a larger order of 41,000 machine guns, about 2,000 Negev 7.62×51 LMGs were delivered to India last week. The plan is to supply about 4,000 more machine guns by the end of this year.

These weapons have been supplied by PLR Systems, a joint company of IWI and Adani Group, which is considered to be the leading private company in the manufacturing of small arms in India.

‘Make in India’ got a big boost

This delivery has been possible after the completion of the technology transfer process in India. This will boost defense manufacturing in the country and the army will be able to get high quality weapons on time.

LMG equipped with modern technology

The Negev 7.62×51 LMG is a modern light machine gun used by the Israeli Army. It has both semi-automatic and full-automatic modes, making it extremely effective in different situations.

Its specialty is that it uses 7.62 mm caliber ammunition and is capable of penetrating strong protective armor. It can also be installed on helicopters, military vehicles and naval platforms.

Key Features of LMG

  • 7.62×51 mm caliber
  • Effective range of about 1,000 meters
  • Weight about 7.6 kg
