During a recent interview, Harinder Sikka expressed his displeasure and said that originally the tricolor should have been hoisted in the last scene of the film, where the main character ‘Sehmat’ (Alia Bhatt) returns back to India. According to Sikka, Meghna Gulzar removed the Indian flag from that scene and showed the Pakistani flag instead. He alleged that by doing so an attempt was made to set a different narrative through the film, which was against the spirit of the original story.
“Meghna sent me nasty messages”
Writer Sikka did not stop here; He also revealed that relations between him and Meghna turned sour during and after the production of the film. He said, “Meghna Gulzar had sent me very rude and insulting messages.” Sikka believes that the director tampered with the story and also tried to reduce his credits. He also alleged that the film has shown Sehmat as suffering from ‘depression’, whereas in reality she was a very brave and mentally strong detective.
