Delhi bowlers wreaked havoc, won for the 5th consecutive time –
Tezzbuzz Desk- In the fifth match of IPL 2026, Delhi Capitals performed brilliantly and defeated Lucknow Super Giants in a one-sided manner. In this match played at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow, Delhi easily achieved the target of 142 runs and maintained its dominance against LSG. The special thing was that Delhi registered its fifth consecutive win against Lucknow and did not lose a single match since 2023.
The decision to bowl first after winning the toss proved to be absolutely right for Delhi captain Axar Patel. Lucknow team was reduced to just 141 runs in 18.4 overs. Abdul Samad (36 runs) and Mitchell Marsh (35 runs) definitely put up some struggle for the team, but no batsman could play a big innings.
Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan performed brilliantly in Delhi’s bowling and took three wickets each. Kuldeep Yadav prevented Lucknow from reaching a big score by taking two wickets, while Akshar Patel also got a success.
Delhi had a very poor start in chasing the target. Mohammed Shami sent KL Rahul to the pavilion on the very first ball. After this, Nitish Rana (15), Pathum Nissanka (1) and Akshar Patel (0) were also out early. After falling 4 wickets for 26 runs in just 4.3 overs, the match seemed to be completely in Lucknow’s control. In such difficult times, young batsman Sameer Rizvi played a brilliant role. Rizvi, who came on the field as an impact player, played an excellent inning of 70 unbeaten runs in 47 balls, which included 5 fours and 4 sixes. His strike rate was also 148.93. Rizvi got good support from Tristan Stubbs (39*). There was a match-winning partnership of 119 runs between the two for the fifth wicket. Thanks to this brilliant partnership, Delhi achieved the target in just 17.1 overs and made a strong start to their campaign with a win.
