The most popular and world famous ‘Ubud Monkey Forest’ among international and domestic tourists has increased its entry fees with immediate effect. Although this increase is not so much that you have to cancel your trip, it is an important update for budget-conscious travelers. Ubud Monkey Forest: How much will you have to shell out now?

This sanctuary of sacred monkeys has implemented its new ticket rates from April 1, 2026.

For international tourists: Now foreign adult tourists will have to pay 130,000 IDR (Indonesian Rupiah) for entry. Whereas, for children (3 to 12 years) this ticket will be of 100,000 IDR.

For local (Indonesian) citizens: Local adults holding KTP will be charged IDR 90,000 and children IDR 60,000.

A matter of relief: Entry is still kept completely free for children under 3 years of age.

This entry ticket is valid for the whole day, allowing you to spend your leisurely time in this beautiful forest sanctuary. This forest is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm, but keep in mind that the last entry is available only till 5 pm.

Why was the entry fee increased?

The management of ‘Ubud Monkey Forest’ has issued an official statement regarding this increase in ticket prices. The management clarified that, “This change has been made in response to our continued conservation efforts, better maintenance of the natural habitat, and to ensure the health and welfare of the monkeys living freely in the wild.” The management has also expressed gratitude to the tourists for their cooperation in nature conservation.

Easy options for ticket booking and payment

For the convenience of tourists, tickets are available at the entry gate itself. Apart from cash, you can use digital means like QRIS, Visa, MasterCard, JCB, UnionPay and American Express for payment. For tourists who want to avoid crowds, the facility of online ticket booking is also available. Online booking is strongly advised especially for those visiting during peak season. Ulun Danu Beratan: The entry tickets of this very beautiful temple located in Bedugul in the Central Highlands are also going to become expensive from July 1, 2026. Public Relations Officer Agus Teja Saputra said that due to the tourism sector being back on track, they are sticking to their plan of increasing the fees on July 1.

Tanah Lot Temple: On the other hand, the famous Tanah Lot temple has postponed its entrance fee increase that was supposed to come into effect this week for the time being. Operations Manager Wayne Sudiana said that due to the ongoing war in the Middle East, the number of foreign tourists (especially Middle Easterners) has declined. However, the total number of tourists has remained stable due to the Eid al-Fitr holidays. Increasing fees will be reconsidered only when the global situation improves in future.

It is common in Bali for tourist spots to increase their fees year after year. Some places make their tickets more expensive from January 1, some from April 1, and some around the school holidays (June-August).
