Commercial LPG cylinder becomes costlier by ₹195.5, price of mini cylinder also increased
Amid the ongoing war in West Asia, there has been a big increase in the prices of LPG cylinders in India. Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, these national oil companies on Wednesday announced increase in the prices of 19 kg commercial gas cylinder and 5 kg mini cylinder.
According to the new rates, the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹195.50. After this, its price in Delhi has increased to ₹ 2,078.50, while in Mumbai it has reached ₹ 2,031. Even higher increases were recorded in Kolkata and Chennai, where prices reached ₹2,208 and ₹2,246.
The price of 5 kg mini cylinder has also been increased by ₹ 51, which will put additional burden on small traders and consumers with limited usage. Earlier on March 1 also, the price of commercial cylinder was increased by ₹ 114.5 per cylinder.
This increase is a direct result of the impact on global energy supplies due to the increasing conflict in West Asia. Due to the war, the prices of crude oil in the international market have increased by almost 50%. In particular, energy supplies have been disrupted due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which is considered an important route for global oil transportation.
Due to this supply crisis and rising costs, oil companies have had to revise the prices of commercial LPG in the domestic market. However, at present relief has been given to domestic consumers. The price of a 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder remained stable at ₹913 in Delhi, which was increased by ₹60 on March 7.
This price revision will mainly affect hotels, restaurants and industrial sectors, where commercial gas cylinders are used extensively. Experts believe that this may also affect the prices of food items and services.
At the same time, there has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel at present. In Delhi, petrol is stable at ₹94.72 per liter and diesel at ₹87.62 per litre. The prices of these fuels were last cut by ₹2 per liter in March 2025, after which the rates have remained stable.
