Flights from Hindon Airport to 3 big cities stopped, know why the airlines took this decision? – Read
A disappointing news has come to light for the passengers traveling by air from Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad, Delhi-NCR. Flights from here to big cities like Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Patna have been suddenly stopped. Air India Express has ended its entire operation from Hindon Airport. At the same time, Indigo has also reduced the number of its flights drastically. Many important reasons are being said behind this decision like operational limitations of the airport and lack of resources.
This airport, which started with great enthusiasm last year, now seems to be gradually losing its shine. Initially about 50 flights were operated from here to about 16 cities, but now this number has reduced to only 7 cities and 14 flights. With the departure of Air India Express, direct connectivity to major cities like Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Patna has ended. Apart from this, flights to cities like Bathinda, Ludhiana and Kishangarh have also been affected.
Why are airline companies retreating?
There are many technical and commercial reasons behind this decision of Air India Express and other airlines. Hindon Airport operates within the Indian Air Force airbase. Due to security reasons, there are strict restrictions for civil flights here, the biggest problem is that flights are possible here only between sunrise and sunset. Flight operations are not allowed at night.
Due to limited number of aircraft, companies are giving priority to those routes where the number of passengers is high and profit is assured. Hindon is not able to live up to these standards at present. In winter, flights often have to be canceled due to low visibility due to fog. This causes financial loss to the companies and also reduces the confidence of the passengers.
There will be a direct impact on passengers
According to Hindon Airport Authority, the airlines have taken this decision due to their personal and business reasons. The management says that they are in constant touch with the companies so that facilities and flights can be increased in future. However, the worst impact of this decision will be on the passengers of Ghaziabad and Noida. Now they will have to go to Delhi’s IGI Airport to go to Mumbai or Patna, which will cost more time and money.
