Greater Noida West Metro’s route was cut, Namo Bharat changed the whole picture; Know how many stations were eliminated

New Delhi: There has been a big change in the metro project in Greater Noida West. Now the number of metro stations on this route has reduced from 11 to only 5. This change has been made due to the proposed Namo Bharat Rapid Rail for Noida Airport. The Central Government has directed Noida Metro Rail Corporation to prepare a new DPR. It is expected that this will make the project progress faster and the expenses will also reduce.

Why was the route changed?

The population of Greater Noida West is more than 5.5 lakh. People here have been waiting for the metro for a long time. Public representatives had also demanded this several times. The earlier proposed route was from Sector 51 to Knowledge Park-5 via Greater Noida West.

11 stations were to be built in it, but the problem arose after the plan to run Namo Bharat train up to Noida Airport along with Ghaziabad-Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail came up. Both the routes were running parallel to each other. Therefore, the Center decided to change the route and asked to prepare a new DPR.

How many stations on the new route?

According to the new proposal, the Greater Noida West Metro route will now be 7.5 kilometers long. Five stations will be built in this – Sector 61, Sector 70, Sector 122, Sector 123 and Sector 4 near Kisan Chowk. It is estimated that about Rs 1050 crore will be spent on this.

Other metro projects of Noida

Two more metro routes in Noida-Greater Noida area have received the approval of the Central Government. The first route is from Botanical Garden to Sector 142. This will be an 11.56 kilometer long elevated corridor. 8 stations will be built in this – Botanical Garden, Sector 44, Noida Office, Sector 97, Sector 105, Sector 108, Sector 93 and Panchsheel Balak Inter College. Rs 2254 crore will be spent on this.

The second shorter route is from Greno Depot to Bodaki. It will be only 2.5 kilometers long and will have two stations – Bodaki and Junpat villages. Its cost is said to be Rs 416 crore. Railway station and cargo hub are also being developed in Bodaki.

The tender process for both the routes is going to start soon and design survey work is going on. This change can prove to be good news for the people of Greater Noida West. If the new DPR gets approved soon then the dream of Metro can be fulfilled soon.
