Former Rajasthan Royals batsman said goodbye to international cricket amid IPL, did not get central contract

Rassie van der Dussen retires : South African veteran batsman Rassie van der Dussen has announced his retirement from all formats of international cricket. This right-handed batsman confirmed his decision on 2 April. He recalled his journey in international cricket by sharing an emotional message on social media.

Van der Dussen made his debut on 9 October 2018 in a T20I match against Zimbabwe, and has since played in all three formats for South Africa. During his career, he played 57 T20Is, 71 ODIs and 18 Test matches. His last international match was a T20I against Australia on August 16, 2025. One of his best performances came in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, where he scored a brilliant century (133 runs) against New Zealand.

The 37-year-old star batsman has taken this decision after being out of the central contract of the South African Cricket Board. Let us tell you that Rassie van der Dussen has been a part of Rajasthan Royals in IPL. He got a chance to play three matches for the team in 2022. During this period, Van der Dussen had scored 22 runs at an ordinary average of 11. He was also out once.
