Hanuman Jayanti 2026: Hanuman Jayanti 2026 is being celebrated today with devotion and enthusiasm across the country. On this auspicious day of Chaitra Purnima, devotees worship Lord Hanuman and pray for happiness and peace. In the scriptures, Hanuman ji is considered a child celibate, who never adopted a household life, but do you know that there is a unique temple in India, where Hanuman ji is seated with his wife?
Specialty of the unique temple
Sri Suvarchala Sathi Hanuman Temple located at Yellandu (Elandu) village in Khammam district of Telangana is famous for its unique tradition all over India. Here along with Hanuman ji, his wife Suvarchala Devi is also worshipped. According to the priests of the temple, this is the only temple in the country where Hanuman ji is worshiped as a couple.
This temple was built in the year 2006. Here every year on Shukla Dashami of Jyeshtha month, the marriage festival of Hanuman ji is celebrated with great pomp. In North India, Hanuman ji is worshiped as a celibate, but the tradition of this temple attracts devotees.
Who was Suvarchala Devi?
According to beliefs, Suvarchala Devi was the daughter of Sun God. She appeared from the rays of the sun. Hanuman ji considered Sun God as his guru and received education from him. Sun God had nine types of knowledge. Hanuman ji acquired the knowledge of five Vidyas, but Sun God put a condition for learning the remaining four Vidyas.
How did the marriage happen?
Surya Dev told that the remaining knowledge can be given only to a person living a family life. Hanuman ji was celibate, hence he could not attain these knowledge. Then Sun God suggested a solution that if Hanuman ji gets married then he can give the remaining knowledge. Hanuman ji did not agree initially, but Surya Dev explained that he could observe the vow of celibacy even after marrying his daughter Suvarchala.
Hanuman ji agreed to this and he got married to Suvarchala Devi. After marriage, Hanuman ji acquired the knowledge of remaining knowledge. Suvarchala Devi also adopted the path of penance.
Due to this mythological story, devotees have special faith in this temple. Devotees come here from far and wide and get blessings by having darshan of Hanuman ji and Suvarchala Devi. On this auspicious occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, this unique temple reminds us that devotion may take many forms, but faith is only one.
