AAP removes Raghav Chadha from the post of deputy leader in Rajya Sabha, ban on speaking also
New Delhi, 2 April. In a major reshuffle in the organization, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has removed Raghav Chadha from the post of its deputy leader in Rajya Sabha. In this regard, the party has given information by sending an official letter to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat. Besides, the party has also made it clear that now Raghav Chadha should not be allotted time to speak in Parliament.
In his place, Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Dr. Ashok Mittal has been appointed as the new deputy leader. For some time, there were reports of differences between Raghav Chadha and the party leadership. Although, no formal statement has been given by AAP regarding any kind of dispute or separation, but this decision is being linked to these speculations.
AAP has a total of 10 members in the Rajya Sabha, of which seven are from Punjab and three from Delhi. Raghav Chadha has been associated with the party since its early days and started his political journey with Arvind Kejriwal in 2012. His role in the party grew stronger—he became the national spokesperson and also became the youngest treasurer after AAP’s victory in Delhi in 2015.
However, he faced defeat from South Delhi seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, but in 2020 he made a comeback by winning the assembly elections from Rajendra Nagar. In the year 2022, he became the youngest MP of Rajya Sabha at the age of 33 and continued to play an active role in the parliamentary work of the party. In 2023, he was made the leader of the party in Rajya Sabha in place of Sanjay Singh. Now with the new changes, this responsibility has been handed over to Dr. Ashok Mittal, who will further guide the parliamentary strategy of the party.
