Sri Lankan cricketer reached court when he did not get NOC for IPL, know the whole matter

IPL: According to media reports, fast bowler Nuwan Thushara has completely failed to pass the fitness test, that is why the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has not given him NOC.

IPL: The exciting start of IPL 2026 has started and all the 10 teams have played their first match. Defending champions Royal Challengers Bangalore have started their campaign with a win by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the very first match. Amidst all this, Sri Lankan cricket fast bowler Nuwan Thushara is in the news these days. Actually, Tushar is a part of RCB this season, but due to not getting NOC from the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, he has not been able to join the franchise yet. Nuwan has now approached the court in this matter.

Why did the board not give NOC?

According to media reports, fast bowler Nuwan Thushara has completely failed to pass the fitness test, that is why the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has not given him NOC. Due to not getting NOC, Thushara is not able to participate in IPL 2026. Now he has filed a petition in the Colombo District Court on this matter, seeking legal intervention. Nuwan has appealed to the court to order the board to issue NOC.

When will the next hearing be held?

Now the next hearing of this case will be on April 9. According to the report of Sri Lanka’s local media News Wire, Nuwan said in his plea that the contract with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board had ended on March 31 and he did not want this contract to be extended further. During this, he also said that the board knows that I want to end my international career.

How much did RCB buy for?

Let us tell you, Royal Challengers Bangalore team had retained Nuwan Thushara for IPL 2026. Last season the franchise had bought him for Rs 1.6 crore. In IPL 2025, he played only 1 match for RCB. Earlier, he was a part of Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024, where he played 7 matches for AAI. Nuwan has played a total of 8 matches in IPL so far, in which he has taken 9 wickets.
