Ladki Bahin Yojana: Girl Sister Scheme is an important government scheme launched by the Government of Maharashtra. The main objective of this scheme is to provide financial help to the women of the state and make them self-reliant. This scheme has been started especially for poor and needy women so that they can easily fulfill their daily needs. The full name of this scheme is “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana”. It was started by the Maharashtra government in the year 2024. Under this scheme, financial assistance is sent directly to the bank account of eligible women every month.
Benefits available under the scheme
Under the Ladki Bahin Yojana, eligible women are given financial assistance of Rs 1500 every month by the government. This money is transferred directly to the bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer). In this way a woman gets help of around Rs 18,000 in a whole year. Its objective is to strengthen the economic status of women and improve their standard of living.
Who can take advantage of this scheme
Some conditions have been set to avail the benefits of the Girl Child Scheme.
- Female applicant must be a resident of Maharashtra state
- The age of the woman should be between 21 to 65 years
- Annual income of the family should be less than Rs 2.5 lakh
- Woman’s Aadhaar card should be linked to the bank account
- Married, widowed, divorced or abandoned women are eligible for this scheme

If a woman cannot apply online then she can also apply by visiting Anganwadi Centre, Setu Suvidha Center or government office.
