Many people make faces when they hear the name of bottle gourd, but this vegetable is extremely beneficial for health. The simple dish of bottle gourd can sometimes seem boring, so it is a good idea to introduce it to children in a new way. In this article, we will tell you about two delicious dishes made from bottle gourd, which you can easily feed to your children.
Ingredients of Lauki Pulao
Basmati rice (soaked) – 1 cup
Ghee – 2 spoons
Curd – half cup
Grated bottle gourd (squeezed out water) – 1 cup
ground spices (bay leaves, cinnamon, cloves)
finely chopped onion
Ginger-garlic paste and green chilli
How to make Lauki Pulao
Put 2 spoons of ghee in a cooker and add the spices in it.
Then add onion and ginger-garlic paste and fry until golden.
Now add grated bottle gourd to it and cook for 2 minutes.
After this add curd, salt and some garam masala.
Add soaked rice and water as required and cook till it whistles.
Now serve hot Shahi Lauki Pulao with raita.
Spicy gourd-rice kebabs
Bottle gourd – 2 cups
Cooked rice – 1 cup
Spices – Ginger-garlic paste, green chilli
Gram flour or bread crumbs – 3-4 tbsp
chilli powder
Turmeric
dry mango powder
garam masala
Coriander – finely chopped
Oil – for shallow frying
Kebab recipe
Squeeze out all the water from the grated bottle gourd thoroughly.
Add mashed rice and squeezed bottle gourd to a large bowl.
Now add chopped green chillies, ginger-garlic paste and all the dry spices.
After this, add bread crumbs or gram flour and green coriander and knead the mixture.
If the mixture seems wet, add a little gram flour.
Now apply some oil on your hands and make small balls from the mixture or give them the shape of tikkis.
Heat some oil in a pan and fry the tikkis until they turn golden on both sides. This will make them crispy.
