New Delhi: Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman on Thursday made serious allegations against the Argentina football team and its superstar Lionel Messi. The minister says that the team promised to play the match, took huge amount of money, but refused to come to Kerala. He has clearly called it a fraud.

Minister Abdurahiman said that he was very excited that the Argentina team will come to Kerala and players including Messi will play matches here. For this, he held several rounds of talks and arranged for ₹250 crore from sponsors. It was not easy to raise such a huge amount, yet all the preparations were done, but after taking the money the team did not come. Expressing disappointment, the minister said, “This is a betrayal to us. We had not expected this.”

The minister called it a serious matter and indicated that legal action can now be taken. He said, “In such a situation, we may have to file a case and seek compensation from the team.”
