Iran shoots down two sky-infiltrating drones and a cruise missile

Tehran. Amid the ongoing war in West Asia, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has claimed that its air defense units have shot down two drones and a cruise missile. This action was taken under Iran’s integrated air defense network, which seems to be intensifying the ongoing conflict in the region.

Iran’s air defense units have shot down two intruding drones and a cruise missile in the skies over the southern, central and northwestern provinces of Fars, Markazi and Qazvin, Iran’s state news organization Pressed TV quoted the IRGC as saying.

A Hermes 900 unmanned aircraft was tracked and destroyed over the southern Iranian city of Shiraz, the IRGC’s public relations department said on Thursday.

Apart from this, an MQ-9 Reaper drone was also targeted and destroyed in the airspace of Khomein city located in the central part of Iran. These systems are under the control of Iran’s Integrated Air Defense Network.

The Hermes 900, manufactured by major Israeli weapons manufacturer Elbit Systems, is a long-duration unmanned drone designed for tactical missions such as reconnaissance and surveillance, according to the IRGC. The price of this big drone is estimated to be in millions of dollars.

Additionally, the IRGC destroyed a US Air Force AGM-158 long-range air-to-ground missile over Buin Zahra County in Qazvin Province.

America and Israel attacked Iran on 28 February. Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and many military commanders were killed in this attack. In response, Iran is targeting military bases of America and Israel present in West Asia.
