IPL 2026: Fans react as SRH beats KKR at Eden Gardens. Read
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) Putting in a perfect performance in Match 6 of IPL 2026 Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Defeated by 65 runs. Asked to bat first, SRH posted an impressive score of 226/8 and then backed it up with an efficient bowling effort, KKR were bundled out for 161 runs in just 16 overs.।
The contest quickly turned one-sided as SRH maintained control in both innings. From explosive batting to disciplined bowling, this performance reflected their depth and intent, which became clear early in the tournament.
KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping that the pitch would provide some early support. However, this decision did not go as per plan as SRH batsmen came out with attacking intent right from the start.
Explosive batting created huge scores for SRH
SRH’s innings was based on aggressive stroke play and strong partnerships, with many batsmen scoring crucial runs. Openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma stunned the KKR bowlers with their fearless approach.
The pair made a quickfire partnership of 82 runs in just 34 balls. Head scored 46 off 21 balls, while Abhishek looked equally dangerous with 48 off 21 balls. His aggressive start ensured SRH took the lead in the game within the powerplay.
Although both the openers were out early, the momentum did not stop. Ishan Kishan played a short but impressive innings, while Heinrich Klaasen took charge in the middle overs. Klaasen took charge of the innings, scoring 52 runs from 35 balls, combining smart placement and powerful hitting.
Them Nitish Kumar Reddy Got strong support from, who added 39 runs in 24 balls. Together they made a partnership of 82 runs, which took SRH beyond 200 runs and put huge pressure on KKR.
Late contributions from the lower order, which included sharp cameos from Harsh Dubey and Shivang Kumar, ensured SRH finished strong at 226/8 – a score that always looked above the norm.
For KKR, Blessing Muzarabani remained the only bright spot. The Zimbabwean pace bowler took 4 for 41 and dismissed key batsmen, but lacked support from the rest of the bowling unit, which struggled to control the flow of runs.
KKR’s efforts fail under pressure
Chasing a mammoth target of 227, Kolkata Knight Riders needed an almost perfect start. Although he showed signs of aggression, he failed to build lasting partnerships and kept losing wickets at crucial moments.
Finn Allen provided an explosive start, scoring 28 runs from just 7 balls to give hopes of a strong chase. However, his early dismissal halted the momentum. Angkrish Raghuvanshi showed composure under pressure by scoring 52 runs in 29 balls.
Despite their efforts, wickets kept falling at the other end. Rahane and Cameron Green failed to make an impact, making it difficult for KKR to maintain the required rate.
Rinku Singh tried to steady the innings by scoring 35, but after her dismissal, the chase effectively broke down. The bottom order did not show much resistance as the demand rate increased rapidly.
SRH bowlers executed their plans brilliantly. Jaydev Unadkat led the attack with figures of 3/21, disrupting KKR’s chase at crucial moments. He was well supported by Ishan Malinga, who impressed with 2/14, while Nitish Reddy and Harsh Dubey contributed important wickets.

SRH wins their 2nd game against KKR in Eden garden with huge 65 runs margin 🔥
This was an absolute clinical bowling performance by SRH bowlers not giving any chance for KKR batsmen to get back in game with regular wickets after their below avg bowling in first game 👏#KKRvSRH— God of Shinobi 🇮🇳🚩 (@Shinobi_nokami1) April 2, 2026

A win by 65 runs. That’s huge. Especially with a bowling unit that’s considered the weakest among all teams.
Well done @SunRisers 👏#KKRvsSRH #KKRvSRH

So we have beaten the worst team in the tournament. Beating KKR means literally nothing. They will finish last again.#KKRvSRH
— Dave (ARTETA OUT) (@AFC_Dev17) April 2, 2026
Forget about our bowling which is the worst anyways looking at our batting we don't have any depth here as well. Rinku, Ramandeep haven't scored runs for so long. Anukul isn't a reliable batter and we don't have any finisher after retirement of Dre Russ.
