Got success in third attempt, now focus on development of villages, UPPCS topper Abhilasha Sharma

In the recently declared result of Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPCS), Abhilasha Sharma (aka Priya Sharma), a resident of Obra Nagar in Sonbhadra district, has secured 14th rank and got selection for the post of Block Development Officer (BDO). In a special conversation with him after the results were released, the struggle behind his success, family support and vision for the future came to light.
Abhilasha Sharma comes from an ordinary family. His grandfather was late Angad Sharma and grandmother was late Manara Devi. His father Avadhesh Sharma is working as Bade Babu in Hydel Department located at Obra, while mother Shashi Sharma is a housewife. She is the only daughter among four children in the family. She has three brothers, Hasdev Sharma, Satya Prakash Sharma and Rishabh Sharma.
Abhilasha told that she got this success in her third attempt. He completed his initial technical education from Polytechnic (Electrical Trade). During this time, the dialogue program organized in the college by the then District Magistrate of Kaushambi, Manish Verma, changed the direction of her life. When he asked why girl students were not joining administrative services, that thing stuck in my mind.
After this, he started preparation by staying in Prayagraj and continued working hard. He told that even after failure in two attempts, he did not give up. During this time, there was pressure from the family for marriage, but she clearly stated her priority to studies and the family fully supported her.
While sharing his experience of the result day, he said that his father was the first to see the result. After this, messages from acquaintances and friends started coming. When I looked at the phone around 3 o’clock in the night, I believed that I had succeeded.
Abhilasha Sharma told that her aim was to go into administrative service and become District Collector, however at present she sees her selection as Block Development Officer as an important opportunity.
He said that his priority would be to remove the problems faced by people due to lack of proper implementation of schemes in rural areas. Also expressed his desire to work especially for the education and empowerment of women.
His success is being seen as a major achievement in the field. Local people say that this achievement proves that if there is dedication and passion, great success can be achieved from any background.
Abhilasha Sharma’s story is an inspiration not only for Sonbhadra but for all the youth who have the courage to dream big and fulfill them despite limited resources.
