Cuttack: Cuttack Central Excise officials today arrested as many as three persons on charges of possessing heroin worth over Rs 16 on Thursday.
Acting on a tip-off, the excise officials conducted a raid in Judicial Academy Chhaka under Markatnagar Police Station limits and seized 164 grams of heroin and arrested three persons.
The officials also seized a scooty and mobile phones of the accused persons, said sources adding that the market value of the seized drug is expected to be worth over Rs 16 lakh.
The arrested persons have been identified as Som Nayak, Kalia Nayak and Rohit Ghadei of Alisha Bazar area under Lalbag Police Station limits.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 was registered against the drug peddlers and they were forwarded to the court after completion of legal process.
