Budget session of Parliament extended to pass Women’s Reservation Bill, 3 meetings will be held between 16 to 18 April
New Delhi, 2 April. The current budget session of Parliament was extended on Thursday to pass the Women’s Reservation Bill and now the next meeting of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will be held on April 16. Sources said that a three-day meeting of both the houses can be held between April 16 and 18.
In the same sequence, sources said that in the same extended period of the budget session, there is also a plan to pass bills to increase the number of Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 816. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that the House will soon meet again to consider an important bill.
Rijiju said, ‘We have some bills and important issues, and we have also shared information about this with the opposition. In the next two-three weeks we are going to introduce a very important bill. According to the government calendar, the House was to be adjourned sine die on April 2.
Sources said both houses will meet again for three days (April 16 to 18) to consider the proposed bill. During this period, there will be three sittings of the Parliament and meetings will be organised. Constitutional amendment bills will be passed to implement women’s reservation.
Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad said that the bill prepared by the government (Nari Shakti Vandan Act) exists. We, our party, our leader Akhilesh Yadav, we have always stood with women.
On the other hand, Union Minister Annapurna Devi said, ‘April 16 can be a big day for women. Since 2014, decisions related to women empowerment have been taken continuously. The Prime Minister’s aim is to advance women. This has become possible only because of the strong will of the Prime Minister.
