UPSSSC Lower PCS 2026 New Syllabus & Exam Details

UPSSSC has released the new syllabus for Lower PCS 2026, in which the exam has been divided into three sections by removing Maths and Reasoning. Questions will be asked based on General Knowledge, Science, Computer and subjects related to Uttar Pradesh. There will be a total of 100 multiple choice questions, each worth 1 mark, and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

UPSSSC Lower PCS 2026 Syllabus Update: Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has released the new syllabus for Lower PCS Recruitment. This syllabus will have three sections, which include questions related to the state of Uttar Pradesh along with General Knowledge, Science and Technical subjects. The changes have been made in view of the application process starting in May 2026, so that candidates can make more focused preparation and perform better in the exam.

section 1

65 marks questions will be asked in the main section of Lower PCS. It includes History of India, Indian National Movement, Constitution and Polity, Geography, Indian Economy and Social Development, National and International Current Events. Questions from Science and Technology, Environment and Disaster Management, Data Interpretation and General Hindi will also be included in this section.

section 2

The second section will have 15 marks questions, which will be based on the concepts of Computer and Information Technology, contemporary technological developments and innovations. This section will test the technical understanding and digital knowledge of the candidates.

section 3

In the third section, questions of 20 marks will be on general information related to the state of Uttar Pradesh. This will include questions related to the culture, administrative structure and socio-economic subjects of the state.

Main changes and negative marking

A total of four major changes have been made in the new syllabus. Most importantly, Maths and Reasoning have been removed. Now there will be 10 marks questions from Science and Technology. The paper will have 100 multiple choice questions, each question will carry 1 mark and 0.25 marks will be deducted for wrong answer. This change will prove helpful for the candidates in giving more focus to the preparation of the exam.
