‘Who caste ba…’ SP leader slapped a Brahmin student after asking about his caste in BHU, even threatened to kill him!

Varanasi: Once again a controversial incident has come to light in Banaras Hindu University (BHU) of Uttar Pradesh. Here a case has come to light of slapping a student after asking him about his caste. The victim student has accused Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha President Himanshu Yadav of assault and threatening him.

How did the incident happen?

Prashant Mishra, a second year MA Hindi student at BHU, Varanasi, had reached his department for class at around 11:45 am on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Himanshu Yadav reached there and started asking him about his course and caste.

After telling the caste, the accused abused Prashant by calling him ‘Manuvadi’ and suddenly slapped him. When Prashant protested, the accused even threatened to kill him.

Police registered a case

Victim student Prashant Mishra has lodged a complaint at Lanka police station. Police have registered a case against Himanshu Yadav. Police Inspector Raj Kumar Sharma said that on the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered under relevant sections and investigation has been started.

The incident has been captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the department premises. Police have taken possession of the footage and will take further action based on the evidence.

Tension in BHU campus

After this incident, there was a tense atmosphere in the BHU campus for some time. BHU is a major university of the country, where students from all over the country come to study. Incidents related to student politics have been in the news here many times before.

Who is Himanshu Yadav?

Himanshu Yadav is the president of Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha. In such a situation, this matter can take a political color. An atmosphere of assembly elections is being created in the state, hence other student organizations are also preparing to become active in this matter.

Police are now investigating whether this incident was just a personal dispute or there is some political angle in it. The truth is expected to emerge from CCTV footage and statements of witnesses.
