Accused of slapping a Brahmin student after asking about his caste in BHU, FIR against SP Student Assembly unit president Himanshu Yadav

News India Live, Digital Desk: Once again an incident of caste dispute and fighting has come to light in the campus of Kashi Hindu University (BHU). A case has been registered against BHU unit president of the university’s Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha (SP’s student wing) Himanshu Yadav for assaulting a Brahmin student and making caste remarks. The victim student has alleged that Himanshu first asked him about his caste and slapped him publicly when he told him he was a ‘Brahmin’. What is the whole matter? (According to the FIR) According to the FIR lodged at the Laka police station, the incident took place on the evening of Wednesday, April 1, 2026. Victim’s claim: The victim, who is also a student of BHU, was passing near a hostel on the campus. Then Himanshu Yadav and some of his supporters stopped him. Caste question: The victim alleges that Himanshu asked him his name and caste. As soon as the student identified himself as a Brahmin, Himanshu allegedly abused him and slapped him. Threat: The student has also said in his complaint that he was threatened with dire consequences if he was seen again. Political tension increased in the campus. There is huge anger among the students in the BHU campus after this incident. Protest from student organizations: ABVP and other student organizations strongly condemned the incident and immediately arrested Himanshu Yadav. Have demanded arrest and expulsion from the university. Students say that such ‘casteist hooliganism’ will not be tolerated in the educational institution. SP Chhatra Sabha’s side: At the same time, Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha sources say that this is a political conspiracy and false allegations are being made to influence the upcoming student politics. They claim that there was only a normal argument and no fight.Police action: Bhelupur (Lanka) police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC (now the Indian Justice Code). Police are scanning CCTV footage and recording statements of eyewitnesses. BHU Administration Alert: Security has been increased on the campus after the incident. The Proctor Office has also taken cognizance of the matter. Chief Proctor has said that there will be no place for any kind of violence or caste discrimination in the university campus. If the allegations are found true, disciplinary action will be taken against the guilty student. This incident has happened at a time when there is already a debate over ‘caste equations’ in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. Now such allegations have added fuel to the fire in a prestigious institution like BHU.
