Volume 1 Song: 26 year old ‘obscene’ song of Honey Singh-Badshah will be deleted, Delhi HC said – ‘Not acceptable in a civilized society’

Volume 1 song:Amid the ongoing rift between singer-rapper Honey Singh and Badshah, his controversial song ‘Volume 1’ is once again in the headlines. Expressing strong objection to this song, Delhi High Court has taken strict action. The court has ordered to immediately delete this song from all platforms.

On this song, which was in the news in 2006-07, the court said that this song is extremely obscene, clearly objectionable and insulting towards women, artistic values and social norms.

Strong comment from the court

The court said in its order that this is one of those rare cases where even the conscience of the court has been shaken. The judge considered that the lyrics of the song are not only indecent, but also promote the mentality of treating women as a joke and sexual object.

The Court also made it clear that such content cannot be justified in the name of ‘freedom of expression’, especially when it is easily available on online platforms and is also reaching minors.

‘Not acceptable in a civilized society’

In its order, the court said that no civilized society can allow such material to be openly available or to earn money from it. Due to this, the concerned platforms and all the parties having rights have been instructed to immediately remove the links of this song.

This song remained in controversies

It is noteworthy that the song Volume 1 was released in the early 2000s, when Honey Singh and Badshah were part of the same group ‘Mafia Mundir’. Raftaar, Ikka and Lil Golu were also included in this group. Later, the group broke up due to mutual differences and a dispute also came to light between the two artists.
