Supreme Court’s strictness in Malda hostage case, now NIA will investigate the case

West Bengal: The incident of siege of judicial officers in Malda district of West Bengal has attracted the attention of the entire country. This incident lasted for about 9 hours, in which the judicial officers had to face serious danger. Late night, heavy police force reached the spot and the officers were taken out safely. However, even while rescuing them, an attempt was made to attack the convoy. During this time the National Highway was also blocked, due to which the situation became more tense.

Supreme Court’s strong comment

The Supreme Court took a very strict stance on this matter. Commenting, the bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant said that this incident shows a serious failure of law and order in the state. The court also said that taking judicial officers hostage in this way is a dangerous sign for the democratic system.

The Supreme Court also raised questions on the state administration. The court said that the incident took place in the afternoon, but senior officials did not reach the spot till night. The Chief Justice even said that he had to intervene and give instructions at midnight, which shows the seriousness of the situation.
