The dumping yard of Marble Waste located in Kishangarh of Ajmer district has become a wonderful tourist destination. The place looks like snowy hills, and some people consider it to be similar to Gulmarg or Switzerland. In fact, it is Asia’s largest marble dumping yard, which is a toxic place. Presently, this place has become an attraction for people for reels and photoshoots, and people from far and wide are coming here to click pictures.

Effect of Marble Slurry

In this dumping yard, 700 tankers dispose of 22 lakh liters of marble slurry every day. This thick sludge is produced during cutting, grinding and polishing of marble. This place is actually a garbage dump, where marble related waste is thrown.

Title of toxic tourist destination

Around 5000 tourists come here every day, while on weekends this number reaches 20,000. People come here for pre-wedding and photoshoots. A scientific study by the Central University of Rajasthan has declared it a toxic tourist destination, which is dangerous for health. This dumping yard is operating without any safety management.

Environmental Science Professor Lakshmi Kant Sharma said, ‘Due to the lack of safety technology here, the groundwater has become polluted, due to which the agricultural land has been affected. Pollution is increasing due to dust, and even breathing here is dangerous. Government should shut this place down. Having food shops at such places is extremely harmful for health, and no tourist activity should take place here.
