Big news related to NCERT, Central Government has given this important status, Central Government has granted Deemed University status to the NCERT

New Delhi. This is big news from the point of view of India’s education system. The government has given the status of deemed university to the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). After getting the status of deemed university, NCERT will now be able to open its own educational institutions and run courses. The headquarters of NCERT is in Delhi. NCERT was established in 1961. NCERT works under the Ministry of Education.

The main work of NCERT has been to prepare books and digital materials for school students. Apart from CBSE, NCERT books are also taught by other state boards to the students. The job of NCERT is to outline the education system in India and develop the syllabus. Apart from giving training to teachers, NCERT also conducts education related workshops. The work of NCERT is also to promote research in the field of education. Questions in UPSC, JEE and NEET exams come from NCERT books. In this way NCERT has a big role in the education system of India.

In the last few years, NCERT has made many changes in the books taught in schools. Many times questions have been raised due to changes made by NCERT in Mathematics, History etc. Recently, a chapter on ‘Corruption in Judiciary’ was published in NCERT’s Class 8 Social Science book. On which the Supreme Court had adopted a strict stance. After this NCERT had to take back the books. The three people who wrote this chapter have been blacklisted by the Supreme Court. Due to getting the status of deemed university, NCERT will now be able to open a university. However, many educational institutions already work as affiliates of NCERT. These include National Institute of Education and Central Institute of Education Technology of Delhi, Pandit Sunderlal Sharma Central Institute of Vocational Education of Bhopal and Regional Institute of Education, Regional Institutes of Education of Ajmer, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru and Shillong.
