Fake no-entry pass game going on in Delhi, traffic police becomes strict

The traffic police has taken a strict stance regarding the irregularities taking place through fake no-entry permits (NEP) in Delhi. Officials have made it clear that strict legal action will be taken against those making or using fake passes. In such cases the vehicle concerned can be confiscated. A criminal case will be registered against the accused and he may even be blacklisted.

What did the investigation reveal?

According to the traffic police, two such cases have been reported in the recent two weeks, one related to the Eastern Traffic Range and the other to the Central Range. In both these cases, vehicles were caught with fake no-entry permits. Investigation revealed that these fake passes were prepared through illegal agents and middlemen. After the matter came to light, FIRs have been registered in Gokulpuri and Wazirabad police stations. The police is now trying to get to the bottom of this entire network, so that not only the drivers but also the gang preparing fake passes can be caught.

Actually, no-entry passes in Delhi are issued to those vehicles which are connected to essential services. These include milk, fruits and vegetables, ration, meat, medicines, oxygen, LPG, water supply or vehicles related to government works like DDA, PWD and DMRC. These vehicles are allowed to enter the city under prescribed timings and conditions. However, some people are misusing this system by bypassing the rules and walking on the streets by making fake passes.

What did the police say on no-entry pass?

Police said that there are three types of no-entry passes. Annual, temporary and short term. Annual pass is issued for one year, for which online application is necessary. Temporary pass is valid for up to three months and is also available through online process. Whereas, short term pass is for maximum one week, which is issued offline from the concerned traffic DCP office.

Apart from this, passes are not given to diesel vehicles older than 10 years. Keeping in mind the environmental standards, CNG or BS standard vehicles are given preference. Also, after getting the pass, it is mandatory to follow the prescribed route, time and conditions.

The traffic police has appealed to the drivers and transporters not to fall prey to any unauthorized agent and get the passes done only through official channels. Strict action is taken against violation of rules. Therefore, everyone has been appealed to cooperate in following the law and keeping the system safe.
