Defense Minister indicated the launch of INS Aridman
There is going to be another big increase in India’s strategic power and capability. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday (March 3) hinted at the early launch of the country’s third indigenous nuclear submarine INS Aridhaman. He wrote on social media platform
Not words but power, ‘Aridaman’!

At present Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is on a visit to Visakhapatnam. Here he is going to commission the indigenous stealth frigate INS Taragiri. Visakhapatnam is also the main base and manufacturing center for India’s nuclear submarines.
Meanwhile, INS Aridman has successfully completed the final phase of sea trials and will soon be commissioned by the Strategic Forces Command (SFC).Strategic Forces Command) will be included in. Earlier, INS Arihant (2016) and INS Arighat (August 2024) have already been commissioned into the Indian Navy.
INS Aridaman will further strengthen India’s nuclear triad. This submarine equipped with long-range missiles will increase the capability to launch nuclear counter-attacks from the sea, which will further strengthen the country’s security strategy. Weighing around 7,000 tonnes, INS Aridhamman is more advanced than its previous versions. It has been given better stealth technology and acoustic performance, which will make it more difficult for the enemy to detect.
This submarine is powered by an 83 MW Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) developed by Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC).
missile capability doubled
The biggest feature of INS Aridman is its missile capability. It has 8 vertical launch tubes, which is twice the capacity of INS Arihant. This submarine is capable of carrying K-4 missiles with a range of 3,500 km or K-15 missiles with a range of 750 km.
The induction of INS Aridman will enable India to achieve sustained nuclear deterrence at sea, meaning at least one nuclear-armed submarine will be deployed at sea at all times. Earlier, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi had also indicated that INS Aridman could be commissioned between April and May. He had said in December 2025 that this submarine had reached its final trial stage.
The launch of INS Aridman is being considered a major milestone in India’s defense capability, which will further position the country in the league of global military powers.
