Latehar district creates history, doubles revenue from mining; Record maintained for the second consecutive year

Jharkhand: Latehar district of Jharkhand, rich in mineral wealth, is in the news these days due to its brilliant achievements. In the financial year 2025-26, this district has made such a record in terms of mining revenue, which left the entire state behind. Against the fixed target of Rs 755.20 crore, Latehar created a new history by collecting more than 200 percent revenue by collecting Rs 1510.86 crore. Coal mining played the most important role behind this great success. Out of the total revenue, Rs 607.24 crore was received from coal only. In this, CCL’s Magadh project contributed the most, which alone contributed Rs 445.29 crore. Apart from this, substantial income was also generated from DVC’s Tubeid Coal Mines and CCL’s Tetriyakhand project. Apart from coal, other mineral sources also played an important role in increasing the revenue. A large amount of money was also raised through various means like reserve price, stone, brick and clay, management fees and upfront payment. Besides, significant revenue was also received under JMBL Cess, which further strengthened the treasury of the district.

Record made for the second consecutive year

Let us tell you that this achievement of Latehar is not just for one year. Earlier in the financial year 2024-25 also, the district had made a record by collecting Rs 636.69 crore against the target of Rs 534.51 crore. This means that for the second consecutive year this district is moving ahead breaking its own old record.

Strict action also played an important role

Along with this, the strictness of the administration also became a major reason for this success. Strict action was taken against illegal mining throughout the year. A fine of around Rs 4 crore was collected, 388 vehicles were seized and 51 cases were registered. Besides, by seizing more than 54 thousand tonnes of illegal minerals, a clear message was given that those violating the rules will not be spared.
