Sensational revelation of Vishnugarh murder case: 13-year-old innocent man sacrificed in the name of tantric ritual, three accused arrested
Hazaribagh, Jharkhand:- The police have made a sensational disclosure of the brutal murder of a minor girl that took place during the Mangala procession on the night of 24/25 March 2026 in village Kusumbha under Vishnugarh police station area of Hazaribagh district. The formed SIT team took prompt action and arrested all the accused involved in this heinous crime.
DIG Anjani Jha, Superintendent of Police Hazaribagh Anjani Anjan and Deputy Commissioner Shashiprakash Singh and other police officials gave information about the entire matter in a joint press conference. According to the police, at around 08:30 am on March 25, 2026, Vishnugadh police station received information that the body of a minor girl was lying near the bamboo bush behind the middle school of Kusumbha village. Investigation revealed that the girl had gone missing during the Mangala procession on the night of March 24.
In this regard, on the written application of the deceased’s mother Reshmi Devi, aged about 35 years, husband Binod Singh, resident of Kusumbha, a case of rape and murder was registered against Dhaneshwar Paswan and other unknown people. This case was registered under Vishnugadh police station case number 42/26, dated 25.03.2026, under section 103(1)/65(2) BNS and 4/6 POCSO Act.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, on the instructions of Jharkhand Director General of Police and Inspector General of Police, Ranchi and SP Hazaribagh, a special investigation team was formed under the leadership of IPS officer Nagargoje Shubham Bhausaheb on 26 March 2026.
Conspiracy hatched in the name of Tantra-Mantra:
During the investigation, shocking revelations were made on the basis of technical evidence and interrogation. Police officials said that Shanti Devi alias Bhagatini (aged about 55 years) of Kusumbha village, husband late. Ishwar Thakur, who practiced Tantra Mantra, had advised the deceased’s mother to sacrifice a virgin girl to cure the physical and mental problems of her son Sudhir Kumar Singh. According to the police, Reshmi Devi was in touch with Bhagatini regarding her son’s illness and other problems for the last one year. This plan was being made for three months and the time of sacrifice was fixed on the day of Ram Navami Ashtami.
According to the information received, during the Mangala procession on the evening of March 24, 2026, Reshmi Devi came out with her three children and later reached Bhagatini’s house with her 13-year-old daughter (deceased). At around 09:30 in the night, Bhim Ram of the village, aged about 45 years, father late. Chedi Bhuiyan along with the girl again went to Bhagatini. The puja started with tantra-mantra in the Mansa temple located at Bhagatini’s house. The girl was later given prasad and taken to Banswadi, where the alleged ritual was performed by making her sleep on the ground.
According to the police, during this time Bhim Ram strangled the girl, while her mother Reshmi Devi was holding her legs. Even after this, cruelty continued and in the name of Tantra-Mantra, inhuman acts were done with the dead body and worship was done with blood. Police have arrested three accused in this case. Bhim Ram (age about 45 years) Father Late. Chedi Bhuiyan, Reshmi Devi (aged around 35 years) husband Binod Kumar Singh, Shanti Devi alias Bhagatini (aged around 55 years) husband Late. Ishwar Thakur, all three are residents of village Kusumbha, police station Vishnugadh, district Hazaribagh.
In this action, the police team included IPS Nagargoje Shubham Bhausaheb, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vishnugarh Baidyanath Prasad, Deputy Superintendent of Police Anubhav Bhardwaj and Prashant Kumar, Vishnugarh police station in-charge Sapan Kumar Mahatha, Mahila police station in-charge Vindhyavasini Kumari Sinha, Daru police station in-charge Mohd. Iqbal Hussain, Tatijharia police station incharge Inderjeet Kumar, Barkagaon police station incharge Deepak Kumar Singh, P.U.N. Officers and personnel of the technical branch including Dashrath Mahato, Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kunal Kishore were included.
In the press conference, police officers said that bad practices like superstition and tantra-mantra are fatal for the society. People were appealed to stay away from such rumors and superstitions and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police. This incident has created a sensation in the entire region as well as has emerged as a horrifying example of the dangerous consequences of superstition.
