Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026: BJP’s list released for Tamil Nadu elections, party fields powerful leaders
Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections 2026: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of 27 candidates for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. The party has fielded many prominent leaders from different constituencies of the state. It shows the party’s intention to strengthen its presence in this southern state. The BJP is contesting the elections in Tamil Nadu primarily in alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).

Many big faces have been given a chance in the BJP list. Union Minister L. Murugan has been fielded from the Avinashi assembly seat (SC), reserved for the Scheduled Castes in the state, while former Telangana governor Tamilisai Sundarajan has been given the ticket from the high-profile Mylapore seat. BJP state unit president Nainar Nagendran has been given ticket from Sattur. BJP’s Rashtriya Mahila Morcha president Vanathi Srinivasan will contest from Coimbatore North.
Amidst the rising political temperature in the state, it was being speculated for a long time that former Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai would be fielded in the election this time, but her name was not included in the list released.
It is noteworthy that voting for the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly will be held on April 23. April 6 is the last date for nomination. Nominations can be withdrawn till April 9. The results of the assembly elections will be announced on May 4.
